NO. 14 WARRIORS DROP NIACC 29-15

Centerville, IA – The No. 14 nationally ranked Indian Hills Men's Wrestling squad ran away with an Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) win at home Wednesday night as the Warriors dropped visiting North Iowa Area Community College 29-15 at the Multi-Purpose Building.

The Warriors moved to 5-2 overall on the year in dual action and 3-2 in ICCAC action behind seven victories at home on Wednesday. A pair of pins to open up the night kickstarted the Warriors' win over the Trojans, moving Indian Hills to 5-0 all-time vs. NIACC.

Freshman Isaac Gibbs (Prosper, TX/Rock Hill), ranked No. 7 in the nation at 125lbs, picked up a second round pin to ignite the Warriors in front of a packed house at the Multi-Purpose Building. Sophomore Arojae Hart (Anna, IL/Anna-Jonesboro), returning to action for the first time in two months after an injury, pinned Caden Baca in 1:07 to give Indian Hills a quick 12-0 lead over the Trojans.

NIACC picked up an open victory at 141lbs before taking back-to-back decisions at 149lbs and 157lbs. Sophomore Peyton Asbury (Brownsburg, IN/Brownsburg) regained momentum for the Warriors at 165lbs as the No. 9 nationally ranked individual battled Brock Moore to a 2-1 decision. Asbury held off a late push from Moore in the third round and secured the victory by way of riding time to take back the lead in favor of Indian Hills, 15-12.

No. 8 nationally ranked Jaquan East (Kokomo, IN/Kokokomo) continued his impressive stretch with a 22-4 tech fall at 174lbs. East needed just two rounds to run past Marco Guzman to extend the Warriors' lead to 20-12.

NIACC regrouped with a decision at 184lbs, but freshman Ansel Cervantes (Miami, FL/South Dade) put the match away with a thrilling decision at 197lbs. Trailing 5-4 after two rounds of action, Cervantes used back-to-back three-point takedowns to take his first lead of the match at 10-6, a lead the freshman held on to down the stretch to secure the win for the home team.

Next up for the Warriors is the Loras Open in Dubuque, IA on January 27.
