WARRIORS SCRAP AT PAT 'FLASH' FLANAGAN OPEN

Dubuque, IA – Competing against the likes of some of the top teams in all of collegiate wrestling, the Indian Hills Men's Wrestling team saw a number of impressive performances at the Pat "Flash" Flanagan Open hosted by Loras College on Saturday.

Freshman Brice Coleman (Indianapolis, IN/Indiana Tech) posted a sixth-place finish for the Warriors at 165lbs for his strongest showing of his rookie campaign. After an opening round bye, Coleman picked up a major decision with a 12-3 victory over Gavin Model of the University of Wisconsin. Coleman followed up in the quarterfinal round with a pin in 1:29 over Izzy Moreno of the University of Northern Iowa. Coleman bowed out with a loss to Drake Rhodes of the University of Iowa.

Freshman Jaquan East (Kokomo, IN/Kokomo), the No. 8 ranked wrestler in the latest National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) rankings, picked up a pair of wins in the 174lb bracket for the Warriors. East secured a 17-3 major decision in the opening round of the bracket over Dashon Dejong of Cornell College. After a loss by decision in the quarterfinals, East picked up one more victory in the consolation round with a pin in 2:02 over Gage Coppock of the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. The two victories gave East 21 wins for the year.

Sophomore Peyton Asbury (Brownsburg, IN/Brownsburg), ranked No. 9 at 165lbs in the NJCAA rankings, picked up two wins on the day for the Warriors. Asbury earned an opening round win at 165lbs with a dominant 15-0 tech fall over Joseph Spizzirri of Oshkosh. Asbury fell to the consolation bracket, but secured a 9-0 major decision over Loras' Kurtis Holmes to finish the day 2-2.

Asbury has now earned 29 victories throughout his Indian Hills career, moving the sophomore into fifth all-time in school history.

Freshman Rodrick Love (Springfield, IL/McKendree) also picked up two wins on the day for the Warriors at 184lbs. Love picked up back-to-back wins in the bracket with a fall in 1:34 in the opening round followed by a 16-1 tech fall in the second round.

The Warriors return to Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) action Wednesday night at home vs. Iowa Lakes Community College as part of Sophomore Night for the Warriors.
