NO. 14 WARRIORS TAKE HOME FINALE

Centerville, IA – The No. 14 nationally ranked Indian Hills Men's Wrestling squad closed out its home portion of the 2023-24 campaign with a dominant 50-6 victory over visiting Iowa Lakes Community College at the Multi-Purpose Building on Wednesday night. The Warriors move to 6-2 overall on the year in dual action and 4-2 in Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) competition.

The Warriors secured nine of the 10 weight classes on Wednesday night to roll past the Lakers for the second time this season. Indian Hills saw four pins on the night to go along with two tech falls and a major decision.

Wednesday night's matchup proved to be the final home contest for 10 wrestlers – Peyton Asbury, Justin Bradford, Arojae Hart, Ayden Kingery, Kentrell Kinney, Rodrick Love, Steven Luedtke, Raul Romero, Syrron White, and Treyshawn White. The sophomore class was recognized with an official ceremony prior to the start of Wednesday's dual.

Wednesday's ICCAC dual saw the Lakers take the opening match at 141lbs with an open decision, but the Warriors cruised from there on out. Yaveion Freeman (Alton, IL/Alton) picked up a dominant 15-5 major decision at 149lbs before KingJames Perry (Miami, FL/South Dade) secured his first home dual victory of the year with a 16-1 tech fall.

No. 10 nationally ranked Ansel Cervantes (Miami, FL/South Dade) dominated all facets of the 197lb matchup to pick up a 19-3 tech fall and sophomore Treyshawn White (Portage, IN/Portage) followed up in the 285lb matchup with a pin in 1:22. Sophomore Steven Luedtke (Baltimore, MD/Dunbar) closed out the night at 133lbs with his first-career home pin in 1:49 to clinch the ICCAC contest for the Warriors, the team's second win over the Lakers this season.

Along with Wednesday night's sophomore festivities, the Multi-Purpose Building played host to Military Appreciation Night in partnership with the Iowa National Guard where the Warriors donned camo singlets and competed on the Iowa National Guard official wrestling mat.

The Warriors wrap up their regular season at the Grand View Open in Des Moines, IA on February 3 before prepping for the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) tournament in Council Bluffs, IA March 1-2.
