NO. 5 WARRIORS DOMINATE NO. 7 NIACC

Mason City, IA – No. 5 Indian Hills Men's Wrestling toppled No. 7 North Iowa Area Community College 30-13 to improve to 3-0 on the year. The Warriors were victorious in six matches to remain undefeated in 2021.

Sophomore Caleb Meekins (Livonia, MI/John Glenn) and Noah Broderson (Davenport, IA/Assumption) each recorded a fall on the night to give the Warriors 12 points overall. Victor Guzman (Rock Island, IL/Rock Island) recorded a technical fall while Destin Jones (Miami, FL/Miami Palmetto) earned a major decision. Deron Pulliam (Columbus, OH/Dublin Scioto) remained undefeated with a decision to help lift the Warriors over the Trojans.

The Warriors are undefeated after defeating NIACC in a dual for the second consecutive year. The 30 team points are the most for the Warriors this season. Indian Hills is just one of two undefeated teams remaining in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC).

The Warriors opened up the night with six points after a NIACC forfeit at 125lbs. Meekins stepped to the mat and disposed of his opponent in just 36 seconds. The fall was the third consecutive dual pin of the year for the No. 1 ranked wrestler.

Guzman, ranked seventh in the nation, wasted little time to jump all over his opponent at 141lbs to earn a 21-4 victory. Jones scored a major decision, his second dual win of the season, with a 13-5 victory at 157lbs. Pulliam, the top-ranked wrestler at 184lbs scored his third dual victory of the season at with an 8-3 decision. Broderson capped off the night with a pin at the heavyweight division with 11 seconds remaining in the second period.

The Warriors are set to head to the Drury Open in Springfield, MO at 9:00 AM Saturday.
