TOP TWO ICCAC SQUADS SET FOR DUAL

Fort Dodge, IA – No. 5 Indian Hills Men's Wrestling takes part in its final Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) contest Wednesday night as the Warriors head to No. 10 Iowa Central Community College for a 7:00 PM dual.

MATCH NOTES

Indian Hills, ranked No. 5 in the latest national poll, enters Tuesday night's conference dual with an undefeated 3-0 record. The Lakers, ranked No. 20 in the poll, sit at 0-4 in conference duals.

The Warriors, coming off a sixth-place showing at the National Duals in Miami, OK have rolled through its first three conference opponents, winning by an average of 14.7 points. The Warriors most recently defeated NIACC in conference action on Dec. 1, 30-13.

Iowa Lakes is coming off a loss to NIACC on Jan. 19 as the Trojans defeated the Lakers 34-12.

SERIES HISTORY

First Meeting: The Warriors made a statement in its inaugural season with a 27-15 upset victory at No. 6 Iowa Central on Feb. 17, 2021. Ranked 20th at the time, the Warriors used victories from now-veterans Khris Walton, Chris Busutil, Victor Guzman, Caleb Meekins, Eli Lloyd, and Deron Pulliam. The win pushed Indian Hills to a 3-0 record on its way to a district title. 

Last Meeting: In its second all-time meeting with the Tritons, Indian Hills rolled to a home win on Nov. 10 this year at the Multi-Purpose Building in Centerville. Indian Hills claimed seven of the 10 victories on the night as Caleb Meekins scored a pin in 42 seconds and Jacob Ramirez earned a major decision.

WRESTLERS TO WATCH

Indian Hills features six wrestlers in the individual NJCAA national rankings, the most of any team in the ICCAC. The Warriors have seen solid performances in recent weeks from sophomores Destin Jones and Noah Broderson. In the team's recent dual against Iowa Western on Saturday, Jones earned a decision victory while Broderson scored a pin in the first round of the heavyweight bout to seal the team win for the Warriors. Both Jones and Broderson are set to square off against the Tritons on Wednesday.

The Tritons are led by four individuals ranked inside the top-10 in their respective weight classes of the NJCAA individual national rankings. Lane Cowell is currently ranked No. 4 at 125 while Hayden Halter is ranked No. 5 at 133. Keaton Geerts sits at No. 3 at the 149lb weight class and Nolan Miller-Johnston is ranked No. 10 at 157. Cowell and Miller-Johnston earned two of the three wins against the Warriors earlier this season. 

ICCAC STANDINGS

Heading into the final conference dual of the year for both sides, Indian Hills remains the lone undefeated program at 5-0 in conference action while Iowa Central is 4-1 overall. Indian Hills has outscored its opponents this year 153-63, the most points for and the fewest points against in the league. Iowa Central has outscored its opponents 150-64, the second-best marks in each category. 

All six ICCAC programs are currently ranked in the NJCAA national team rankings. The six teams will all square off at the upcoming NJCAA North Central District Championship, hosted by Indian Hills Feb. 13 at Lakeview in Centerville, IA.
