WARRIORS PLACE 11 AT WORTHINGTON OPEN

Worthington, MN – 11 different individuals placed for No. 9 Indian Hills Men's Wrestling at the Worthington Open on Saturday, led by sophomore Tobias Bell's (Chicago, IL/Curie) first-place showing in the 197lb bracket.

One day removed from upsetting No. 2 Iowa Western Community College in Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) action, the Warriors sent 22 individuals to compete in the 33-team field at the Worthington Open.

Bell led the Warriors with a strong showing in the 197lb bracket after winning his semifinal matchup with a 10-1 major to advance to the finals. Bell scored a 10-4 decision in the final bout to earn top honors for the Warriors.

Freshman Cade Linn (Elysburg, PA/Southern Columbia Area) placed second in the 184lb bracket. Linn scored a 16-10 decision in the quarterfinal round and picked up a first round fall in the semis before falling in the championship by an injury default.

Justin Bradford (Murfreesboro, TN/Blackman) posted a 2-1 record in the 133lb bracket to place third overall. Bradford won his third-place match over teammate Manuel Limon (Rock Island, IL/Rock Island) with a narrow 3-2 decision.

No. 4 nationally ranked Matthew Lewis (Centerville, IA/Centerville) went 2-1 in the 141lb division to place 5th overall. Lewis pinned teammate Dawson Townsend (loomfield, IA/Davis County) in the 5th place match in 1:51.

Despite dropping his opening match, Weston Milnes-Bowers (Chandler, AZ/Valiant College Prep) placed fifth overall after recording four consecutive victories to close out the day. Milnes-Bowers, ranked No. 10 in the nation at 165lbs, earned three consecutive falls, including a pin in 57 seconds in the 5th place match to place for the Warriors.

Peyton Asbury  (Brownsburg, IN/Brownsburg) recorded two victories to open the day in the 165lb bracket before falling in the 3rd place match to place fourth overall.

Rudy Acedo (Tucson, AZ/Mountain View Marana) dropped his opening match but rallied for two consecutive victories to cap the afternoon and place fifth overall.

Freshman Joshua Gaye (Des Moines, IA/Mooseheart Academy) picked up three victories in a loaded heavyweight bracket to place sixth overall for the Warriors.

Indian Hills is back in action on Wednesday, January 25 in the team's final home dual of the regular season, an ICCAC matchup with No. 12 Iowa Central Community College. The Warriors will open up action at 6:00 PM as part of a doubleheader with the women's programs.
