Centerville, IA – Coming off a historic upset, No. 9 Indian Hills Men's Wrestling is back in action for the team's final home dual of the regular season as the Warriors host No. 12 Iowa Central Community College at 6:00 PM Wednesday night.

The Warriors (4-0) are set to host Iowa Central (3-1) in a key Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) dual. Wednesday's dual will be a part of a doubleheader with the women's teams set to square off at 7:00 PM. Between the two duals, the Warrior sophomore class for both the men's and women's programs will be recognized for their contributions to Indian Hills.

SETTING THE STAGE

Indian Hills is coming off an impressive 28-18 victory over No. 2 nationally ranked Iowa Western Community College in one of the biggest victories in program history. The Warriors scored victories from No. 3 Riley Bettich (125lbs), Manuel Limon (133lbs), Nevertessone Lahens (149lbs), No. 10 Weston Milnes-Bowers (165lbs), Cade Linn (184lbs), and No. 3 Kawaun Deboe (285lbs). The victory gave the Reivers their first loss of the season and left the Warriors as the only undefeated team in the ICCAC.

Iowa Central's lone ICCAC loss of the season came at Iowa Western on November 30, but the Tritons have been on a roll since. The Tritons defeated Iowa Lakes Community College on January 18 50-3 and recently won the coveted National Duals in Miami, OK on January 14.

MAT NOTES

  • With the win over Iowa Western, Indian Hills moves to 14-2 overall in ICCAC duals in the team's three years of existence. The 14-2 mark is the best among the six conference teams over the last three seasons.
  • Indian Hills enters Wednesday's matchup with 119 points for on the year and 66 points against, the second-best marks in the ICCAC this year.
  • Against Iowa Western, three individuals scored their first-career ICCAC victories in Nevertessone Lahens, Manuel Limon, and Weston Milnes-Bowers.
  • Manuel Limon enters the dual as this week's ICCAC Wrestler of the Week after scoring an upset over No. 10 Paul Ruff of Iowa Western.
  • Freshman Riley Bettich is 4-0 in league duals this year with three pins and a 19-1 tech fall.
  • Iowa Central leads the ICCAC with 124 points for and a conference-low 64 points allowed.

LAST TIME OUT

The Tritons dealt the Warriors their lone loss of the season last year in the team's final dual of the regular season on February 2, 2022. The two teams split the regular season meeting last year as the Warriors won the November 10, 2021 matchup in Centerville by a score of 27-9.

SERIES HISTORY

Wednesday's matchup will be the fourth all-time meeting between the two teams.

  • Indian Hills won the first-ever dual with a 27-15 upset over the No. 6 ranked Tritons on February 17, 2021.
  • In each of the three previous meetings, both teams have been ranked in the top-20 of the NJCAA National Polls.
  • Iowa Central holds a 59-57 edge in team pointsin the previous three meetings.

WHAT'S NEXT

The Warriors waste little time returning to action as Indian Hills will take part in its third dual in a seven-day span with the annual CoEd Clash at William Penn University on Friday night. As part of a doubleheader with the women's programs, the Warriors and Statesemen will match up at 7:00 PM in Oskaloosa, IA while the women will meet at 6:00 PM.

SOPHOMORE RECOGNITION 

17 members of the Indian Hills Men's Wrestling squad will be reocgnized following their final home regular season dual for the Warriors. A special ceremony will take place immediately following the men's dual.
