NO. 9 WARRIORS UPEND NO. 20 TROJANS

Mason City, IA – No. 9 Indian Hills Men's Wrestling improved to 5-1 in Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) dual action on Wednesday night with a 31-9 victory over North Iowa Area Community College on the road.

The Warriors picked up seven match victories on the night, including the final three bouts to pick up the team's second win over the Trojans this year. The nine points allowed are the fewest allowed this season for the Warriors.

Freshman Riley Bettich (Stevensville, MI/Crown Point) continued his torrid run against 125lb competitors. Bettich earned a second round fall in 4:30 to improve to 6-0 in ICCAC duals this year and 7-0 in duals overall. Bettich, ranked No. 3 in the nation in the 125lb weight class, has earned four falls in ICCAC duals this year.

Sophomore Manuel Limon (Rock Island, IL/Rock Island) earned an 11-0 major decision in the 133lb matchup for the Warriors. Over his last four duals, Limon is now 3-1 with a pair of falls.

The Trojans took a pair of narrow decisions at 141lbs and 149lbs before Weston Milnes-Bowers (Chandler, AZ/Valiant College Prep) scored a fall in just 24 seconds of mat time at 157lbs. Milnes-Bowers' fall put Indian Hills ahead 16-6 at the hallway point.

Freshman Peyton Asbury (Brownsburg, IN/Brownsburg) extended the lead in the 165lb matchup with a 4-0 decision in an upset over No. 8 nationally ranked Ryan Van Donselaar of NIACC.

A tight 11-10 decision went against the Warriors in the 174lb matchup, but Indian Hills closed out the night with three consecutive victories. Sophomore Cade Linn (Elysburg, PA/Southern Columbia Area) earned a 14-8 decision over No. 8 nationally ranked Ein Carlos. Sophomore Tobias Bell (Chicago, IL/Curie) produced an 8-1 victory in the 197lb matchup.

No. 3 nationally ranked Kawaun Deboe (Erie, PA/Cathedral Prep) scored a first round fall in 2:58 to cap the night for the Warriors. Deboe, an All-American last season, is 5-0 in duals this year with three falls, including 4-0 in ICCAC matchups this season.

The Warriors head to the Missouri Valley Open in Marshall, MO on Saturday, the team's final regular season action before postseason gets underway with the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) North Central District Championship February 12 in Iowa Falls, IA.
