WARRIOR MEN DROP TRINIDAD IN SEASON OPENER

Centerville, IA – The Indian Hills Men's Wrestling team opened up the 2024-25 campaign with an impressive 41-6 victory over visiting Trinidad State Junior College (CO) at the Indian Hills Multi-Purpose Building on Tuesday night.

The Warriors won nine of the 10 bouts on Tuesday night including a pair of falls from Arieh Hart (Anna, IL/Anna-Jonesboro) and Cinsere Clark (Des Moines, IA/Valley). Indian Hills moves to 2-0 all-time vs. the Trojans and have now won each of its first four season-opening dual victories since the program was started in 2020.

The Trojans stole the opening matchup at 125lbs, but the Warriors dominated the rest of the way. Zack Tihen (aint Peters, MO/Fort Zumwalt South) picked up the squad's first win at 133lbs with a 21-5 tech fall before Hart rough the crowd to their feet with an impressive pin in just 13 seconds to give Indian Hills an 11-6 lead

Returning national qualifier Yaveion Freeman (Alton, IL/Alton) got off to a strong start at 149lbs to earn an 11-6 decision. Sophomore Brice Coleman (Indianapolis, IN/Indiana Tech) scored a major decision at 157lbs with a 16-5 win. Clark made a splash in his collegiate debut with a fall in 1:52 to push the lead to 24-6.

An All-American from a year ago, sophomore Jaquan East (Kokomo, IN/Kokomo) opened the new year with a 10-3 decision at 174lbs for his 27th career win for the Warriors.

Following a forfeit victory at 184lbs, Andrew Marquez (Rock Island, IL/Rock Island) secured a tech fall at 197lbs with a 20-6 victory before Naasir Edmonds (Virginia Beach, VA/Landstown) closed out the night with a 9-2 decision in the heavyweight bout.

Indian Hills returns to action this weekend for its first tournament of the regular season with the Luther Hill Open in Indianola, IA.
