The Open Mat Team Tournament Rankings | The Open Mat Team Dual Rankings
Centerville, IA – The Indian Hills Men's Wrestling team has been tapped as the No. 1 team in the nation in the latest The Open Mat Team Tournament rankings, announced Friday afternoon.
The first national poll of the year saw the Warriors take the No. 1 spot for the first time in program history after earning 91 points from the committee. The Warriors are ranked No. 2 in the nation in The Open Mat Team Dual rankings after picking up a dominant 41-6 victory over Trinidad State Junior College (CO) on Tuesday night.
Along with the pair of team national rankings, the Warriors saw seven individuals ranked in their respective weight class rankings, led by sophomore Riley Bettich (Stevensville, MI/Crown Point) who is ranked No. 1 in the 133lb weight class.
Bettich, an All-American for the Warriors two seasons ago, is joined by Arieh Hart (Anna, IL/Anna-Jonesboro) who is ranked No. 3 in the 141lb weight class. Returning All-American Issac Gibbs (Prosper, TX/__) is ranked No. 4 in the 125lb weight class while Yaveion Freeman (Alton, IL/Alton), a national qualifier a year ago, is ranked No. 4 at 149lbs. Sophomore All-American Jaquan East (Kokomo, IN/_) checked in at No. 5 in the latest 174lb national rankings.
Brice Coleman (Indianapolis, IN/Indiana Tech) opened the new year with an impressive win on Tuesday night and is ranked No. 10 in 157lb weight class while freshman Andrew Marquez (Rock Island, IL/Rock Island) is ranked No. 12 at 197lbs.
