Head coach Cole Spree and the Indian Hills Wrestling program has announced the addition of Devaughn Sapien to the coaching staff as an assistant coach for the men's and women's squads.

Sapien joins the Warriors after spending the past season as a graduate assistant for NCAA DII member Minot State University in Minot, North Dakota. The Beaver men's program qualified for the NAIA National Tournament, claiming the program's second-ever All-American while the women's program qualified for the national tournament in its first year of existence.

"Extremely excited to add Devaughn to our coaching staff," Spree noted. "He was identified early as someone who we felt was the perfect candidate for our position. His experience with junior college as an athlete and coaching experience with women will serve as a huge asset to our programs."

A native of Boise, ID, Sapien's collegiate career began at National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) power Clackamas Community College (OR) where he twice qualified for the national tournament and was named Outstanding Wrestler at the regional tournament as a freshman.

Following his time at Clackamas, Sapien joined Life University (GA) where he qualified for the NAIA National Tournament in 2019. Sapien capped his collegiate career with a NAIA National Championship appearance for the University of Cumberlands (KY), posting a 21-10 record on the year.

Sapien was a two-time high school state champion and a two-time placer at Fargo Nationals.

Sapien received a Bachelors degree in Coaching from Cumberlands where he was twice named to the Mid-South All-Academic Team and was selected as an NAIA Academic All-American.
