Gladstone, Missouri -- Indian Hills used second-half goals from Megan McElmeel and Taylor Hiatt to come from behind and defeat MCC-Maple Woods, 3-2, in a non-conference match on Tuesday. It was McElmeel's 6th goal of the season, and Hiatt's 3rd.
IHCC was held to just one first-half goal -- Laura Hallissey's 11th of the fall, tying Brandi Menephee for the team lead. Carmen Kager assisted on the Hallissey goal, which came in the 40th minute.
Down 2-1 going into the second half, the Warriors got the tying and go-ahead goals just two minutes apart. McElmeel knotted the score at two with an assist from Ellie Priest in the 53rd minute. Hiatt then knocked home the game-winner, assisted by Ellie Finneran. Priest's assist was her 7th, tying Hiatt for tops on the team.
After grabbing the lead, Indian Hills used a solid defensive effort and the play of goalkeeper Emily Sands to preserve the victory. Sands made six saves.
The Warriors improved to 8-2-1 and return to league play on Saturday when they travel to Spencer to take on Iowa Lakes.
