WARRIOR NOTES

Indian Hills will head to the opening round of the seven-team, four-region NJCAA Central District Tournament in Council Bluffs, IA.

  • The Warriors enter postseason play with an 11-5-0 overall record, tied for its most wins since 2021.
  • Indian Hills closed out the regular season with a 2-1 win over Lewis & Clark, who earned a bye in the upcoming NJCAA Central District Tournament as the NJCAA Region 24 regular season winner.
  • Freshman Arnicka Louis heads into postseason as the Warriors' top offensive performer on the year. Louis ranks 29th in the nation with 31 points (11g, 9a) on the year.
  • As a team, the Warriors enter the six-team tournament as the second-highest scoring team with 46 goals on the year.
  • The Indian Hills offense features six players with double-digit point totals on the year, including 20 points from Kiara Levac.
  • Sophomore María Melendez, who is tied for second in school history with 16 career wins, ranks fifith in the nation this year with 11 victories.
  • In their first all-time appearance in the District tournament last year, the Warriors went 1-0-1, falling in penalty kicks to Lewis & Clark.

SCOUTING THE ROUGHRIDERS

Crowder enters postseason play as the lone representative from NJCAA Region 16 in Missouri.

  • The Roughriders sport a 7-6-2 overall record on the year and have won their last three contests of the regular season.
  • Crowder has scored 32 goals on the year while allowing 32 goals against.
  • Sophomore Daniela Marquez leas the offense with 31 points (11g, 9a) while Izabella Saenz has earned four wins in net for the Roughriders.
  • Friday's matchup will be the first all-time meeting between the two teams.

BREAKING DOWN THE BRACKET

The six-team tournament in Council Bluffs features top teams from NJCAA Region 11 (Iowa), NJCAA Region 24 (Illinois) and NJCAA Region 16 (Missouri).

  • Iowa Western, the regular season champion out of Region 11, and Lewis & Clark, the regular season champion out of Region 24 secured first round byes to advance to the semifinal round.
  • NJCAA Region 24 runner-up Southwestern Illinois and NJCAA Region 24 third-place finisher Illinois Central will meet at 6:30 PM on Friday in the second opening round contest.
  • A win for the Warriors will send Indian Hills to Sunday's semifinal round against Lewis & Clark at 1:00 PM, also in Council Bluffs.
  • The two semifinal winners advance to the sub-District championship on November 2 with the winner advancing to take on the champion from NJCAA Region 7 (Tennessee) on November 9. The overall winner of the District earns an automatic bid to the NJCAA National Tournament November 17-23 in Wichita, KS.
