MOUNT PLEASANT, IA – The Indian Hills women's wrestling program continued its post-holiday surge with a 34-7 road dual win over Iowa Wesleyan Friday in Mount Pleasant.

Just five of the ten weights were filled by both squads at Ruble Arena, as the Warriors took advantage of four forfeits, but in the matches that did take place, Coach Cole Spree's competitors took care of business.

"I could not think of a better way to close out our dual season," said Spree.  "There were limited matches, but we came out and dominated in the matches available."

IHCC, now 4-2 overall, but winners of three straight, took a loss in their opening bout at 109 pounds as Iowa Wesleyan's Alaina Sunlin picked up the Tigers' lone victory with a :40 pin of IHCC's Mya Turnmire.  That would be the end of the Warrior losses on the night; however, as Indian Hills would sweep the remaining four head-to-head match ups.

Heaven-Leigh Jackson got things rolling for the Warriors as she moved up a weight and notched a technical fall victory over Ashden Welty at 116 pounds.  Jamesa Robinson added a hard-fought 10-7 win at 123 pounds over Zoi Smith to give the Warriors their first lead at 7-6.

The combination of four forfeits and wins by Ginamarie Santiago by technical fall at 155 and Sofia Rubio with an 8-2 decision at 191 brought the scoreboard to 34-7 and the Warriors kept their winning streak going.

"The ladies have been on a roll since after Christmas break," Spree noted.  "We are 3-0 and all of the dual wins came in dominating fashion.

With the conclusion of their inaugural regular season, IHCC will now focus on preparation for the National Collegiate Wrestling Association (NCWA) National Tournament.

"We will now shift our attention to the National Tournament," Spree added.  "We hope to carry on the momentum we've created over the past couple of months."

The NCWA Nationals are slated for March 11-13 in Allen, Texas.

EDIT:  The NCWA Nationals have been cancelled, but the plan is to hold a National Meet some time in April.  Details will be shared as they become available.
