For the second consecutive season, the Warriors will hit the road to the Avila Duals for an action-packed day of wrestling before the holiday break.
MAT NOTES
- The Warriors are coming off a 42-10 rout of Trinidad State on Sunday afternoon to move to 5-0 on the year in dual action.
- Indian Hills has now won nine consecutive duals dating back to the 2022 Avila Duals where the Warriors went 2-1-1.
- The Warriors have outscored their opponents 199-58 through five duals this year and 332-121 during the team's nine-dual win streak.
- 13 different individuals have scored at least two dual victories on the year while four have scored at least four, including freshman Angelica Vicente Gonzalez who is undefeated at 5-0.
- The Warriors are currently undefeated in three different weight classes in duals this year - 116lbs, 123lbs, and 170lbs. Four different individuals have picked up a win at 170lbs for the Warriors this year.
- Indian Hills went 2-1-1 at last year's Avila Duals, defeating Missouri Baptist and Ottawa before falling to Central Methodist and tying Iowa Wesleyan.
- Friday's duals features a total of eight programs across the NCAA, NAIA, and NJCAA for a total of 16 duals.
SCOUTING THE TRITONS
Indian Hills and Iowa Central, ranked No. 3 in the latest NJCAA poll will square off for the second time this season, this time as a nonconference matchup, in Friday's opening dual.
- The Warriors scored a 32-18 victory over then-No. 2 Iowa Central in Fort Dodge on November 29 in a showdown of the top two teams in the nation.
- Indian Hills scored two pins and six tech falls to run past the Tritons and remain unbeaten in the ICCAC.
- The Tritons currently have 12 individuals in the national rankings, including 130lb No. 2 Bronwyn Brenneman.
SCOUTING THE EAGLES
Indian Hills will square off with the tournament host Avila Eagles for the first time in program history.
- The Eagles enter the weekend in the 'Others Receiving Votes' category in the latest NAIA National Rankings.
- Avila boasts three individuals in the NAIA rankings - Markayla Lottie (116lbs, 17th), Shan Briggs (191lbs, 20th), and Asha Pearson (101lbs, 20th).
- Avila owns a 2-1 dual record on the year with its lone loss to nationally ranked Saint Mary.
SCOUTING THE BRAVES
Indian Hills will take on Ottawa for the second consecutive season after dropping the Braves 29-19 in last year's Avila Duals.
- Ottawa enters the weekend as the second-highest ranked NAIA program after checking in at No. 14 in the latest national poll.
- The Braves boast six individuals in the national rankings, headlined by Darby Weidl, ranked No. 3 at 170lbs.
- The Braves are 1-1 in dual action this year with its lone loss coming to Avila on November 30. Ottawa also took home top honors in the 12-team Falcon Invite on Nov. 4.
SCOUTING THE SPIRES
Indian Hills and Saint Mary will square off on the mat for the first time in Friday's finale at the Mabee Fieldhouse.
- Saint Mary jumped to No. 15 in the latest NAIA team national rankings after previously entering in the 'Others Receiving Votes' category.
- The Spires sport six individuals in the NAIA national rankings with Alexsys Jacquez ranked No. 2 at 109lbs and Lessly Sandoval ranked No. 4 at 191lbs.
- Saint Mary is coming off its first dual victory of the year, a 30-18 win over Avila on December 7.
