Centerville, IA – The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Women's Wrestling National Invitational brackets have been revealed as the Indian Hills Women's Wrestling team sets its sights on a fourth consecutive national title.
Indian Hills will send 22 individuals across all 11 weight classes to this year's event, the second-ever NJCAA Women's Wrestling National Invitational. The Warriors captured last year's title, the first sanctioned women's wrestling invitational at the NJCAA level. As a program, the Warriors have captured three consecutive national titles.
Nine individuals return to Council Bluffs for the second straight year as all nine participants earned All-American honors last year as freshman, including three individual national champions. Dutchess King (Lansing, IL/Thornton Fractional South), last year's 101lb national champion, earned the No. 2 overall seed in this year's bracket while the 2023 116lb national champion Shammilka Miranda Diaz (Salinas, Puerto Rico/Eugenio Guerra Cruz) is seeded second in this year's 116lb bracket. The No. 1 ranked wrestler in the nation at 235lbs, Eliana Bommarito (Brighton, MI/Hartland), last year's Most Outstanding Wrestler at the event, earned the top overall seed in this year's field that features three Warrior student-athletes.
In total, the Warriors earned two top seeds with Tiffany White (Oak Park, IL/Oak Park & River Forest) earning the No. 1 seed at 191lbs to join Bommarito. 19 of the 22 individuals earned a top-eight seed, including five No. 2 seeds. The Warriors took each of the top three seeds in the 235lb bracket as Brooke Burns (Wellington, KS/Wellington) earned the No. 2 seed followed by third-seeded Karla Padilla Zepeda (South Weber, UT/North Ridge)
The Warriors, ranked No. 1 in the NJCAA preseason national rankings, went the duration of the regular season atop the national poll. In the latest NJCAA National Rankings, 18 individuals were ranked in their respective weight class.
