Centerville, IA – The Indian Hills Men's and Women's Wrestling squads return to action Tuesday night as the Warriors are set to host the 2024-25 season opener at home against Trinidad State Junior College (CO).

RING CEREMONY: Fans are encouraged to arrive to the Multi-Purpose Building early as the Warriors will recognize the 2023-24 NJCAA National Championship team with the unveiling of their championship rings prior to the start of the women's match.
A new year of Indian Hills Wrestling is set to kick-off Tuesday night at the Multi-Purpose Building on the Indian Hills Centerville campus as the Warriors kick off the new year against the Trinidad State Trojans.
WOMEN'S NOTES
The four-time defending national champions, including back-to-back NJCAA National Invitational Champions return to the mat as the top-ranked team heading into the year.
- The Warriors were tapped as the preseason NJCAA No. 1 team in the country on Monday with the official release of the NJCAA Women's Wrestling Preseason Poll.
- 15 individuals were named in the preseason individual rankings, including five preseason No. 1 ranked athletes - Madison Leverknight (117), Angelica Vicente Gonzalez (124), Amaria Ridgner (131), Genesis Gilmore (145), and Nevaeh Hayden (180).
- The 2024-25 season marks the first with the official new weight classifications - 103, 110, 117, 124, 131, 138, 145, 180, 207, and 235.
- Darren Wynn enters his first year as the sole head coach of the women's wrestling program, rejoining the Warriors after previously serving two seasons as an assistant.
- The Warriors return eight individuals from last year's national championship squad. All eight individuals earned NJCAA All-American honors last year.
- Sophomore Genesis Gilmore returns as the defending NJCAA National Champion after capturing the 155lb title as a freshman.

MEN'S NOTES
Coming off a historic season that saw the Warriors boast their highest finish at the national championships in program history, the Warriors return a loaded sophomore class to compliment a talented freshman core.
- The Warriors feature 15 sophomores on this year's roster that all saw a considerable amount of competition during the 2023-24 campaign.
- Indian Hills returns five sophomores with national championship experience in Riley Bettich, Jaquan East, Yaveion Freeman, Isaac Gibbs, and Arieh Hart.
- Tuesday's match will be the first of four non-conference NJCAA duals on the year as head coach Cole Spree continues to bolster the squad's competitive schedule year-in-and-year-out.
- In the first all-time meeting with the Trojans last year, Indian Hills scored a 34-15 victory. Returners Arieh Hart and Jesse Hinkle each scored victories in the dual.
- The 2024-25 season will mark the Warriors' first under the sole direction of Spree who previously guided the men's and women's squads for the past four seasons.
- The preseason NJCAA Men's Wrestling poll has not been released yet.

SCOUTING THE TROJANS
Trinidad State returns to Centerville for its second year of collegiate competition after making its program debut last year. The Trojans are under the direction of second-year head coach John Lewis.
- The women sent nine individuals to last year's national championship, scoring 15.5 team points in its first season of NJCAA competition.
- The Trojan women return five national qualifiers from last year, including Nadiya Trujillo who is ranked No. 3 in the preseason NJCAA 110lb weight class.
- As a team at last year's national championship, the Trojan women placed 12th overall.
- The Trinidad State men scored six team points at last year's national championship with four qualifiers.
- All four national qualifiers - Chanry Morm, Erik Mestas, Ladainian Gordon, and Sebastian Freeman all return for their sophomore campaign this year.
- The two squads opened up the new year on October 25 with duals against Wayland Baptist in Plano, TX. The Trojan men lost 38-11 while the women suffered a 68-0 defeat.
